Welcome to the Grays School Drama Department Website.

Who we are:


We are a busy and thriving Drama department who produce regular Drama projects and organise Theatre visits.  

 We also recorded the best results in school last academic year 07-08 with 100% of BTEC Performing Arts students gaining a grade C or better. 45% achieved 4 Distinction*'s equivalent to 4 A grades at GCSE.

 

Year 9 Options in The Performing Arts Department:
GCSE Drama.

Five lessons a fortnight. Drama continues the work done at KS3, exploring important issues like Capital Punishment (Craig and Bentley), Drama is used to delve deeper into the issues. We also use scripts to understand the work required to move from a play on paper to a live performance, often examining the playwright and characters choices and motives. The course has NO WRITTEN EXAM, 60% coursework and 40% Practical exam.
Btec Performing Arts
If you love Performing and would like to find out what it's like to work as part of a theatre company, then Performing Arts is for you. It is the equivilent of 4 GCSE's and it means you get 10 lessons a fortnght. The course is 100% teacher assessed with NO WRITTEN EXAM, and you get the choice of the specialist units you want to study, Acting, Technical or Design.
